She's Still in The Race

Senator Hillary Clinton won big in Pennsylvania's primary election on April 22. She won 55% of the vote, while Senator Barack Obama got 45%. The victory helps Clinton stay in the race for the Democratic Party nomination for President. "Some people said to drop out," she said at her victory rally. "But the American people deserve a President who doesn't quit."

Obama still leads in the popular vote count and in the number of pledged delegatesothe people who represent voters at the Democratic Convention. To win the nomination, 2,025 delegates are needed. Even though he lost in Pennsylvania, Obama came away with almost as many delegates as Clinton. As of Thursday, he had gained 73 delegates and Clinton had won 82. Obama also has more money to spend than Clinton does. He has more than $51 million. She has almost $32 million. But Pennsylvania held other rewards for Clinton: She raised $3 million overnight after winning the primary.

On Tuesday night, Obama moved on to Indiana, the next stop on the campaign trail. "Now it's up to you, Indiana," he told supporters in Evansville. There are nine contests left, including the primaries in Indiana and North Carolina on May 6.
